Asst. Principal Mark "Mac" McPherson

Howdy all – allow me to introduce myself. My name is Mark McPherson and I go
by “Mr. Mac.” I am most fortunate in that you and your dedicated high school
team have allowed me to come to this fine district and serve as one your assistant
principals. I am excited and proud to be here!
The road that led to WPHS has been an adventure to say the least.
I am a retired officer of the U.S. Army having served proudly for over twenty years.
I started out as medical corpsman and was commissioned after completing a Bachelor
of Science degree in biology from Central State University in Edmond, Oklahoma.
I then served as a field operations officer that included several years of command
time. A few years later, I attended Syracuse University and received a Masters of
Public Administration. From that point on, I served as a healthcare executive in
positions ranging from project manager to CEO of a military medical facility.
Upon retirement, I took a teaching position to allow me to spend more time with my family.
Who knew – huh? I enjoyed teaching so much that I continued teaching science for the next
six years in Hanover Colorado, a small rural district located on the plains. While there,
I developed a desire to combine 20 plus years of administration and leadership with the education
field by attaining a Masters of Education from Regis University and a Principal Certification
from the University of Phoenix.
I am thankful for this opportunity to work with such outstanding teachers and staff members
of WPHS. We have the finest students in the land, the greatest spirit, and the unique
opportunity to excel beyond our wildest dreams. The best is yet to come, and all I can
think is how exciting to be a part of it all. Like a dear friend once taught me, it is
all in how you look at the world – and if that’s the case, then remember – Everyday’s a holiday!
