Whew!
What a year we have experienced here at Woodland Park High School.
We have seen an enormous amount of achievement both
academically, athletically, and socially during this last year. Our
sports teams made winning the expected norm and sportsmanship part of our
tradition. Our students worked countless hours, volunteering their time
for various community activities. The graduating class of 2007 has recorded
a list of accomplishments, which will be hard to follow. With
over three-quarters of a million dollars in scholarships awarded, three
ROTC scholarships, a Merit scholarship, and an Air Force Academy appointment,
they leave very big shoes to fill. Yet, the class of 2008 has
said they are up to the challenge.
Now, with the last test given, the last essay graded, and the last grade
posted, the 2006-2007 school year finally comes to an end. Our graduating
seniors go on to bigger and better things.; Our hard working staff
and faculty go on a well earned break to get recharged for the next school
year. Many of our faculty will be taking summer courses to
keep up with new technology and improved teaching methods. A few
will be going on trips to Europe, China, or just fishing at 11mile canyon.
I would like to thank everyone for their support and assistance during
this past year, because a High School of Excellence does not happen because
of one person. It takes the students, the faculty and the community
all working together.
Have a Great Summer,
Jo

This year marks
my third year as principal at Woodland Park High School, and I’m as excited
about being here today as I was on the first day I arrived. For those
still learning about me, aside from my experiences here at Woodland Park
High School, I come with a background that includes prior administrative
experience as a principal, assistant superintendent intern for curriculum
and instruction, and a former department chair in social studies along
with ten years in the classroom.
I am a graduate
of Grand Valley State University, Michigan and hold two masters degrees;
Educational Leadership and Secondary and Adult Education. Education
is my career of choice and I have a passion for working with students,
parents and staff.; High school is an incredible transition phase
for our students and I love playing a role in helping our students move
towards becoming productive citizens in today’s world.
As a parent of
three grown children, I understand the many challenges that impact student’s
learning opportunities on a daily basis. Therefore, as the principal
of Woodland Park High School, I am committed to serve our school district
by providing a high quality education for all of our students. As
a high school team, we continue to work hard to adjust our curriculum offerings
to meet the needs of all of our students – including our gifted and talented
population along with our students that are considered “at risk” of graduating.
Woodland Park High School’s goal is to be recognized as a “School of Excellence,”
and with our focus on instruction and academic excellence, along with providing
a safe and caring learning environment, we will be recognized as such.
I look forward
to working with you and our school community in making this year a truly
outstanding year for Woodland Park High School. If you ever have
any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact me at (719)
686-2061.
