If you are interested in joining the S.O.S club this year stop by room 312 during either lunch today!

There will be a SADD (students against destructive decisions) meeting today at 3:15pm in room 203.

Are you funny? Are you Dramatic? Are you smart? If yes, then you belong on the Forensics Team! Forensics is a highly competitive speech and debate team that travels to tournaments all over the state. Tryouts are September 8-9 from 3;15 to 5pm in room 111. Bring a prepared 2-3 minute piece. IT can be sad, funny, informative, or whatever else you like. Also, bring your red card or you will not try out.  Contact Coach Terry Jett at (719) 684-5454 with questions.

Attention all artists;   Create a fantastic WPHS Panther Logo, and you will see the winning design on Shirt-off Your Back Day T-Shirts.  Come to room 207 to get a submission form and see Mrs. Brannon in room 207 if you have questions.  Deadline is this Friday, September 3.

“There will be an informational meeting and first practice for the Knowledge Bowl Team this Thursday, September 2nd   in room 206 at 3:10.  Please attend if you are a team member or have interest in joining the team.  Knowledge Bowl is open to all grade levels.”

SPORTS

      The softball panthers won their third game of the year last night. Sidney Henthorn threw a complete game , no-hitter shut out as the panthers beat Coronado on the road 6 - 0. Elsa Huber and Danielle Lopez went 2 for 4 at the plate with 3 runs scored between them. Next game, Thursday 4:30 at home vs. Falcon.

COUNSELING

The first Beta Club meeting will be next Thursday, September 9th at 3:30 in the library. Officers will meet tomorrow, September 2 at 3:15pm in the counseling center.

A reminder to juniors and senior,   ACT is offering a Sept 11th  testing date and we will be taking walk- ins for that date.  Please see your counselor for details.  This is a good date for seniors to retake the ACT as test results will be available by October for your college applications. 

Hey Seniors, don’t forget to sign up for the first SAT exam of the year to be given here at WPHS on October 9th.  Just go to collegeboard.com and you’ll be set.

Any senior who is doing the exploratory internship please have your signed contract back to Mr. Martin by this Friday, the 3rd.  Thanks.
