Grading: The accumulation of points in the following weighted categories will determine grades:

•  Daily assignments 40%

- Includes Presentations

• Tests and Quizzes 20%
• Major Written Work 40%

•  Grading will quarterly

•  The Final Exam will be 15% of the overall semester grade

Materials:

•  Pencil and blue or black pen

•  Separate spiral notebook with holes

•  Loose-leaf paper

•  Novel(s) currently being studied

•  One notebook for journaling

•  One notebook for note taking

(Notebooks will be quizzed over)

Discipline Procedure:

As the Instructor I will:

Work with every student THREE times

• First Time-Will be a warning
• Second Time-Will be a warning (Name on Board
• Third Time-Will be a chat in the hall
• Fourth Request- Will result in a written referral and a call home
• Continual behavior re-directs and referrals will result in a behavioral contract

Communication Procedure:

When a student is falling behind parents will receive a notice per mid-quarter term. The notice will come in one of the following forms:

• A Postcard sent home
• An e-mail
• A phone call
