Summary of Activities: Knowledge Bowl allows students to use knowledge and skills they posses in “Jeopardy”, “Trivial Pursuit” type competitions.  Questions asked at meets involve many different categories; math, science, grammar, literature, history, humanities, etc.  Students compete in teams of four.  The teams are arranged so that each team has a strong math, english, science, and history person.  At Front Range Knowledge Meets, each team competes in one written round, and three oral rounds.  The written round score is used to place teams in groups of three for competition in the oral rounds.  Forty questions are asked of the three teams during each oral round.  Electronic buzzer systems are used in the oral rounds.  Placement of teams is based on the total points accumulated in each round.  Teams move “up” and “down” to face different teams based on their performance in each round.

Competition

A competition or meet consists of a written round of 60 questions, and two or more oral rounds of 60 questions each. We use a round robin system in which all teams in the league or division compete during the meet. Not all teams may compete against each other directly in the earlier rounds, and the teams are matched in later rounds based upon their performances in earlier rounds. Total scores of all teams during a regular season round robin meet are used to determine final places.
